THE GRAND COOPERATIVE DRIVING CHALLENGE
PARTICIPATION IN THE GCDC 2016
The Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge is a demonstration of the real-life implementation and interoperability of wireless communication based automated driving.
ATeam Eindhoven, along with teams from various European universities, competed for the points for best performance in cooperative and automated driving in May 2016. The competition involved navigating three unique scenarios:
- Two platoons merging to form one platoon on a highway
- Navigating a T-intersection without stopping
- Giving way to an emergency vehicle while platooning
The ATeam successfully demonstrated the benefits of cooperation between vehicles for automated driving during GCDC 2016. The GCDC is one of the highlights of the i-GAME project, a European research project supported by the European Commission, to take the next step towards the cooperative automation of vehicles.
